Most gardeners spend a lot of their time not only tending their intended crops and flowers, but also struggling against "pesky weeds". What if those "weeds" are actually crops and allies in their own right?
In this informative and interactive talk I will share old wisdoms and new insights into the many medicinal, culinary and practical uses of common "weeds" that you might have been fighting on your allotment or in your garden. There will be teas, tinctures and balms to try, and you'll go home with some recipes, new inspirations, and maybe a new found love for nettles. They certainly are in my top ten herbs!
There is no need to book. The talk is being hosted by the East Bristol Allotment Association, but everyone is welcome.
"A morning with Herbs" Mini Workshops
Third Wednesday of the month, 10:30am; The Cafe in The Langton BS4 4EG
Join me for my monthly mini-workshops! At each session, I will introduce you to a herb that you can either forage at the time, or easily find in your kitchen or garden. You will learn about many different ways to use the herb: From folklore to cooking recipes, as well as home remedies and medicinal uses.
16 September - Elder: Discover the folklore, medicinal and (delicious!) culinary uses of elderberries and flowers
21 October- Herb to be confirmed
Booking is essential, as there are limited places, and there is a nominal fee of £5, but you will get to redeem the full value against herbal goodies on the day - I will bring a selection of herbal tea blends, tinctures and balms.
